Starting from One Model Classroom

NSK has long focused on AI-driven global EdTech practice, exploring smarter and more sustainable approaches to learning. As NSK’s AI language learning brand, C-Lingo starts with Chinese learning and connects AI, content, smart devices and real learning contexts to explore more effective language learning experiences for learners worldwide.

The model classroom also brings C-Lingo Chinese learning products further into a local New Zealand classroom. In a real teaching environment, digital learning products can be connected with teacher-led instruction, student learning processes and the school’s practical needs, creating opportunities for continuous observation, validation and improvement.

During the event, Education Consul Shen Jian introduced the Consulate-General’s education programmes. Principal Scott Haines shared Burnside High School’s experience in promoting Chinese language and Chinese culture on campus. NSK Product Manager Max Hu then introduced the Chinese + AI teaching project and the development approach behind the Digital Chinese Language Model Classroom.

AI in Service of Teachers & Students

In the presentation, NSK emphasized that the rapid development of AI is reshaping the starting point of language learning. Translation, transcription and multilingual tools are becoming increasingly accessible. Yet this does not make language learning less important. On the contrary, when technology helps people cross basic communication barriers, the value of truly owning a language becomes clearer.

Language is more than information transfer. It carries context, culture, relationships and a learner’s own voice.

Through C-Lingo, NSK aims to support Chinese learning that goes beyond pinyin, translation and test practice. The goal is to help students understand Chinese, use Chinese, express themselves in Chinese, and connect with different people and cultures through Chinese in real local contexts.

AI should not replace teachers, nor should it speak on behalf of students. Its better role is to become a support system around teachers and learners: reducing repetitive work for teachers, making learning processes more visible and structured, supporting timely feedback, and helping students build real language ability through sustained practice and authentic use.

Teachers at the Center

In the Digital Chinese Language Model Classroom, local teachers remain at the center of curriculum, content and pedagogy. Through C-Lingo, NSK provides support designed around the school’s needs, including localized content customization, software-hardware integration, learning-process support and an offline-first learning approach suited to campus environments.

This means learning can begin in a safer, more controllable and more trusted school setting, with online capabilities providing additional support when appropriate.

Through C-Lingo, NSK hopes to work with local schools and teachers to test the questions that matter most: what content truly fits local learners in New Zealand, what tools genuinely reduce the burden on teachers, and what learning process can help students move from doing exercises to actually using Chinese.

A Friendship Tree for Ongoing Exchange

Beyond the plaque unveiling ceremony, NSK representatives also joined a friendship-tree planting activity at the Consulate-General’s Friendship Garden. As the tree takes root in the soil, it also symbolizes educational cooperation growing steadily through long-term exchange.

Planting a friendship tree to mark China-New Zealand exchange
Planting a friendship tree to mark China-New Zealand exchange.

From the friendship tree to the model classroom, and from education exchange to classroom practice, NSK hopes to build deeper and more sustainable partnerships with local schools, teachers and education institutions, enabling Chinese learning to take root in real local education settings and support students’ long-term growth.

Let Chinese Learning Grow

Participants also held in-depth discussions on the next steps for educational exchange and cooperation. For NSK, joining the China-New Zealand Education Cooperation Road Show was not only a presentation of C-Lingo’s product capabilities, but also the beginning of a long-term collaboration with local classrooms, local teachers and local learners.

Looking ahead, NSK will continue to build on trusted cooperation and real classroom validation, using C-Lingo to support Chinese learning as it takes root and grows in more local education settings.

AI is developing quickly, but education should not become more hurried because of it.

Good technology should give teachers more time to see their students, and give students more opportunities to understand, express and grow.

Let technology serve people.
Let teachers keep their time for students.
Let students truly own Chinese.

C-Lingo in Singkawang

C-Lingo visit to Singkawang, West Kalimantan

Singkawang, West Kalimantan, Indonesia, August 2026. In Singkawang, Mandarin education has never been just another subject.

It lives in simple classrooms, in Chinese characters written on whiteboards, in pages of assignments corrected by teachers, and in the voices of students as they repeat, practice, and eventually speak on stage. For many years, with the joint efforts of the Singkawang Regional Association, the Equator Foundation, schools, teachers, families, and the local Chinese community, Mandarin education has been sustained and gradually developed into a community-based education ecosystem.

A local Mandarin classroom in Singkawang
A local Mandarin classroom in Singkawang.

Recently, with the assistance and coordination of local Chinese community organizations including the Singkawang Regional Association and the Equator Foundation, the C-Lingo team visited Singkawang and surrounding areas in West Kalimantan, Indonesia. The team visited local Mandarin learning centers, trilingual schools, and community education settings, speaking with teachers, students, and education leaders, and participating in a local Mandarin speech competition. These deeply rooted community partners enabled C-Lingo to better understand the daily practice, practical needs, and long-term commitment behind Mandarin education in Singkawang.

The visit gave C-Lingo a deeper appreciation of what makes Mandarin education in Singkawang meaningful. Its strength does not come from advanced equipment. It comes from generations of people who continue to invest time, effort, and resources so that the next generation can keep learning Chinese.

The field research shows that many local Mandarin learning centers maintain low fees and frequent classes. This model is not easy to sustain, but it allows more children in the community to continue learning Chinese with a lower barrier to access. It is more than a commercial education service. It is a cultural responsibility carried by the community: to keep Mandarin learning alive, to pass on cultural memory, and to give young people another way to understand the world.

Today, this system is no longer sustained by passion alone. Schools, community organizations, foundations, teachers, and families are working together to form a resilient, organized, and self-sustaining Mandarin education ecosystem.

At the same time, Mandarin education in Singkawang has reached a new stage. In the past, the community’s priority was to ensure that children had access to Mandarin learning. Now, the next question is how students can learn more deeply, how teachers can teach more effectively, and how this hard-earned education ecosystem can move toward higher quality and sustainable development.

Teachers are at the center of this next stage

The local community has long faced a shortage of professionally trained Mandarin teachers. Many teachers did not come from formal Chinese language education programs, and some entered teaching after learning Mandarin locally themselves. Under these conditions, Singkawang has developed a distinctive local pathway: students grow into teaching assistants, and some later become Mandarin teachers. Public research shows that nine registered non-formal Mandarin education institutions in urban Singkawang serve approximately 5,666 students with 118 teachers, of whom around 54 percent are “young teaching assistants.”

This is not a temporary substitute for teachers. It is a community-based teacher apprenticeship model developed under the reality of limited professional teaching resources. It shows that Mandarin education in Singkawang has valuable internal growth capacity, while also showing the need for more systematic teacher support.

Knowing Chinese is not the same as knowing how to teach Chinese. A mature Mandarin teacher needs to understand second-language teaching methods, child development, classroom organization, pronunciation correction, differentiated instruction, assignment design, and learning assessment. For a community education system that depends on the continued growth of local young teachers, supporting these young teaching assistants and early-stage teachers will directly shape the future quality of Mandarin education.

During the exchange, the President of the Singkawang Regional Association also noted that Mandarin proficiency is creating more practical opportunities for local young people. Compared with many local jobs, young people who speak Chinese may have access to translation, business communication, or China-related company roles with better income and career potential. At the same time, he hopes students will not stop at basic communication or an HSK 3-level foundation.

Mandarin should not only be a short-term employment tool. It should become a deeper capability that helps young people access better platforms, broader career paths, and longer-term development.

This insight also helped clarify the meaning of C-Lingo’s visit. Supporting Mandarin education is not only about helping students “know some Chinese.” It is about helping them continue learning, go deeper, and turn Mandarin into a capability for the future.

In West Kalimantan, smartphones and internet tools are already part of daily life. Students and teachers use tools such as GPT and Google Search for learning, information search, and communication. However, in actual Mandarin teaching, digital tools have not yet become a systematic part of classroom practice. Many classes still rely on whiteboard writing, printed textbooks, teacher-led instruction, student repetition, and manual correction. Teachers often carry the full workload of lesson preparation, instruction, correction, assessment, and differentiated support, which places heavy pressure on already limited teaching resources.

Therefore, the value of digital technology in Singkawang is not to replace teachers or rely on hardware-heavy models. It is to provide practical support for teachers and students while respecting the local education ecosystem’s public-interest nature, community foundation, and low-barrier access.

C-Lingo Sales Manager Jimmy demonstrates the digital learning tool to students
C-Lingo Sales Manager Jimmy demonstrates the digital learning tool to students.

C-Lingo’s direction is Teacher First: fewer devices, broader reach, and stronger support for teachers.

This means language technology should first become a practical helper for teachers. It can help reduce repetitive lesson preparation, provide easier-to-use teaching resources, give students more opportunities for speaking practice, differentiated exercises, and learning feedback, and help schools build clearer ways to understand student progress. For a community-based Mandarin education system like Singkawang’s, meaningful technology is not about creating short-term novelty. It is about helping a limited number of local teachers serve more students with higher quality.

C-Lingo Sales Manager Jimmy introduces C-Lingo to local teachers
C-Lingo Sales Manager Jimmy introduces C-Lingo to local teachers.

During the visit, the C-Lingo team used their own devices to demonstrate digital Mandarin learning tools to students, teachers, and education leaders. In classrooms, students gathered around the learning interface. In one-on-one interactions, team members brought the device to students’ desks and demonstrated Mandarin practice methods. In conversations with schools and community leaders, the team further learned about practical needs in lesson preparation, classroom organization, student assessment, and teaching resource sharing.

These exchanges went beyond product demonstration. They opened a shared question: in a Mandarin education ecosystem sustained by years of community commitment and local teachers, how can language technology become truly useful support rather than an added burden?

Another key moment of the visit took place at the local Mandarin speech competition. Students stood on stage, expressed their ideas in Chinese, and showcased their learning progress. The words, sentences, and repeated practice from the classroom became public expression. Individual learning became a cultural exchange witnessed by the wider community.

Award ceremony at the Mandarin speech competition
Award ceremony at the Mandarin speech competition.

From classroom to stage, C-Lingo saw the deeper value of Mandarin education: it connects language learning, cultural continuity, community identity, and future opportunities for young people.

For Mandarin education communities in Singkawang and West Kalimantan, C-Lingo hopes to participate as a learner, partner, and supporter. While respecting the public-interest, community-based, and low-barrier nature of local education, C-Lingo will continue exploring how digital education can support local teacher development, teaching resource sharing, student assessment, and the transition of Mandarin education from sustained access to quality improvement and sustainable development.

This is both a real need observed during the Singkawang visit and a direction C-Lingo hopes to keep learning from and contributing to over the long term.

Looking ahead, C-Lingo will continue to engage with West Kalimantan and other overseas Mandarin education communities, working with local associations, schools, teachers, and learners to help technology serve classrooms and help Mandarin learning go deeper and further.

Vietnamese Principals Visit NSK to Explore AI in Language Education

Vietnamese school principals visiting NSK in Shanghai

Recently, a Vietnamese principal delegation organized by SIMPACE Vietnam JSC visited China for an educational exchange program.

The delegation included 20 principals from secondary schools in Vietnam, with the broader visit focusing on education cooperation, student exchange, university pathways, scholarships, and short-term study programs.

As part of the program, the delegation visited NSK Shanghai on August 21 for an exchange on how AI-powered Chinese learning products can support real classroom teaching.

Max, C-Lingo's product lead, introduces the Chinese learning tablet
Max, C-Lingo’s product lead, introduces the Chinese learning tablet.

During the session, Max, C-Lingo’s product lead, introduced the Chinese learning tablet, AI Tutor, teacher tools, offline learning capabilities, and learning data feedback system to the delegation.

C-Lingo is not simply adding AI features to traditional learning products. Through Connected Learning, it connects content, AI, intelligent hardware, learning data, and real classroom scenarios into a continuous learning system.

C-Lingo’s learning framework is built around Bloom’s Taxonomy and covers a full learning journey of teaching, practice, assessment, feedback, and progress tracking. It is designed not only to support individual learning tasks, but to help students understand, practice, receive feedback, correct mistakes, and gradually transfer knowledge into real expression.

Behind this framework is Knowledge Graph OS. By structuring Chinese language elements and HSK 2.0/3.0 question types, the system provides a foundation for AI explanations, practice generation, assessment feedback, and personalized learning paths. In this way, AI does not simply give answers. It helps students build capability step by step.

For teachers, AI is not a replacement, but a support system. It can handle repetitive tasks such as grading, knowledge explanation, pronunciation assessment, and homework feedback, while helping teachers see each student’s learning process, identify weak points, and decide what to support next. This allows teachers to spend more time on classroom interaction, personalized guidance, and meaningful teaching decisions.

Principals try the Chinese learning tablet during the visit
The Chinese learning tablet showcased during the visit.

The Chinese learning tablet showcased during the visit was globally launched on May 23 as a dedicated platform for Chinese learning. It supports student, teacher, parent, and school accounts.

One of its key values for schools is textbook adaptation. Teachers can take photos of existing textbooks, and the system can analyze the content and turn it into localized learning materials for practice, feedback, and follow-up learning. This allows schools to keep using their current teaching materials while bringing AI capabilities into daily classroom teaching, making the product more adaptable to different countries, schools, and language backgrounds.

On this basis, the product also supports course design, task assignment, tablet-based grading, writing practice, Flashcards, AI audio podcasts, and offline speech recognition and scoring, helping teachers organize teaching more efficiently and enabling students to continue practicing both inside and outside the classroom.

C-Lingo AIOS global launch event

As globalization deepens, the global community of Chinese language learners is expanding rapidly, driving an urgent demand for high-quality digital educational experiences. On May 23, 2026, Hong Kong-based innovation firm Hong Kong NSK IT Limited (NSK) officially launched the global digital-intelligent Chinese learning solution for its flagship brand, C-Lingo. As a pioneer in the field of global autonomous Chinese learning, C-Lingo is committed to breaking geographical boundaries through its proprietary "Connected Learning" architecture, providing learners worldwide with high-quality, high-efficiency digital Chinese education.

Optimized for AI: Elevating Global Chinese Education

As NSK's core brand for the global market, C-Lingo focuses on the field of digital-intelligent Chinese language learning. Currently, Chinese language education is experiencing rapid growth globally, with 90 countries having incorporated Chinese into their national curricula or syllabi, and the global learner population exceeding 210 million. Against this backdrop, C-Lingo fuses authoritative pedagogical content with AI technology to provide global learners with more scientific and efficient digital learning tools, making autonomous Chinese learning simpler and more systematic.

In terms of content, the brand aligns deeply with the HSK3.0 (Chinese Proficiency Test) standards and integrates the Happy Chinese textbook—a key curriculum planned by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) under China's Ministry of Education, building a scientific and standardized knowledge system for global learners. With AI assistance, static textbook content is transformed into intelligent interactive learning experiences, allowing overseas learners to enjoy high-quality Chinese language services anytime and anywhere via smart devices. This model, which combines authoritative teaching materials with AI-driven tools, serves as the core foundation for C-Lingo's continued support for learners worldwide.

Connected Learning: A Closed-Loop for Language Acquisition

To translate AI technology into measurable learning outcomes, C-Lingo has pioneered the "Connected Learning" methodology. Anchored by the proprietary AIDEO pedagogical system and a robust Chinese language knowledge graph, this framework precisely deconstructs authoritative textbooks and standardized curricula. By synergizing AI-powered personalized learning engines with gamified incentives, it transforms static content into sustainable, digital progress paths, truly achieving the shift from "passive symbols" to "active expression" for learners.

This core methodology is perfectly realized through C-Lingo's smart hardware matrix, which features high-performance offline modes, ensuring a premium experience for learners globally regardless of their environment:

  • AI-Powered Learning Tablet: Serving as the core for deep home-based learning, the tablet deeply integrates a full-process closed-loop cycle of "Teaching, Learning, Practice, Assessment, Evaluation, and Exploration". Through AI-driven dynamic path matching, it makes learning more scientific and highly efficient.
  • AI Chinese Reading Pen: Supporting full-scenario offline decoding, this tool serves as an extension for ubiquitous learning, helping students integrate Chinese language applications into their daily lives and effectively breaking the constraints of the classroom.

April 2026

Clarity. Confidence. Connection.

Clarity, Confidence, Connection — Beyond Language. To Bigger Worlds.

These three words are the starting point of the C-Lingo language learning journey and represent the core values we consistently pursue.

Clarity

It means learners always understand where they are, what they are learning, and what comes next. Learning is structured, guided, and transparent, reducing uncertainty and helping learners move forward with confidence.

Confidence

It comes from visible progress and meaningful outcomes. As learners see their improvement over time, they gain the motivation and belief to continue learning and using the language.

Connection

It reflects how language links learners to the real world. It connects knowledge with application, learning with culture, and individuals with broader opportunities and perspectives.

The essence of language learning is moving from confusion to clarity, from hesitation to confident expression, and ultimately using language to connect with a bigger world.

C-Lingo is a leading partner in the language learning revolution, leveraging AI to redefine how language learning works, making every step of progress visible, confidence-building, and ultimately enabling global language connection.

C-Lingo is a leading partner in the language learning revolution, redefining how language learning works with AI.

We focus on Chinese not only because the global demand for Chinese learning continues to grow, but also because the abilities developed through learning Chinese can be transferred to other languages and to a bigger world.

Tones, characters, and pinyin make it feel like a towering mountain for many learners.

Precisely because it is so difficult, the learning path for Chinese needs to be thoughtfully redesigned.

Looking ahead, C-Lingo will expand from Chinese into a broader multilingual ecosystem, connecting more learning moments and building a continuously evolving learning experience.

Beyond language. To bigger worlds.

Our vision is to pioneer a new era of language learning, because every language connects to a bigger world. It is a world where barriers dissolve, cultures connect, and everyone becomes an explorer of both the world and their own potential.

  • We empower every learner to become a world explorer.
  • We enable every educator to develop explorers.
  • We build a global community where language connects worlds.

February 2026 · Team Spotlight

Beyond the Classroom: Rethinking International Chinese Education

Over the past several years, I have worked deeply in international Chinese education—supporting classroom instruction, learner-centered programs, and observing how Chinese is taught across diverse global settings. From complete beginners to advanced HSK learners, these experiences taught me that international Chinese education is far more than language instruction. It is an interdisciplinary field that combines pedagogy, communication, cultural understanding, and educational technology.

What truly inspired me was realizing that language learning is ultimately about human connection. Many learners I worked with were not simply trying to memorize vocabulary or pass exams. They wanted to communicate, understand Chinese culture, and build genuine cross-cultural relationships. At the same time, I often saw how traditional methods failed to bridge the gap between classroom knowledge and real-world communication.

When Language Barriers Are Cultural Barriers

One moment stayed with me. I worked with a student who excelled in written exercises but became unsure during a classroom discussion about family relationships—a topic that seems simple. Later I realized the difficulty was not linguistic, but cultural. In her native culture, certain family expressions carried very different emotional meanings than in Chinese. She was not struggling with words; she was trying to understand the context behind them.

Language barriers are often cultural barriers in disguise. True learning happens when learners understand not just what to say, but why people say it that way. Seeing learners persevere through these challenges strengthened my belief that accessible, structured tools matter—and why C-Lingo's vision resonated with me.

Why C-Lingo

What attracted me most was C-Lingo's vision of combining AI and educational innovation to make Chinese learning more connected, personalized, and culturally meaningful—to build a system that is more accessible, structured, and engaging. This is the direction international Chinese education needs to move toward.

Moving from teaching into business development has broadened my perspective. C-Lingo is not just a product. It connects learners, structured Chinese knowledge, AI intelligence, smart devices, and real-world scenarios into a continuous, adaptive learning system—redefining how international Chinese learning happens.

A Team Built to Explore

Our team is curious, open, and deeply learner-driven. We constantly question traditional approaches and rethink language learning from the ground up. That same spirit is reflected in our "Explorer" brand personality and in products that encourage learners to discover and grow through language—not simply absorb content.

We are guided by four core values: Professionalism, Learner-First, Results-Obsessed, and Open Connection. These shape how we build products, measure outcomes, and collaborate with partners worldwide.

"C-Lingo shows that Chinese learning can go far beyond memorization. It is about understanding culture, building connections, and opening doors to a much bigger world."

What I value most is that technology can help learners not only master Chinese, but use it as a bridge to greater possibilities. That belief continues to guide my work at C-Lingo every day.
